Thomas Pynchon's new book, Against the Day, slated for a December 2006 publication date, currently appears on Amazon.com with a playful blurb penned by Pynchon himself. The novel, which "[s]pan[s] the period between the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 and the years just after World War I," apparently includes the "stupid songs" and "[s]trange sexual practices" that constitute Pynchon's "usual business." At nearly one thousand pages, it sure sounds like he's up to his usual business...
